I love books, especially kids books (my mentality, so I am told by my family). The kids and I sit around reading to eachother whenever possible, usually bedtime. Some of my favorite most recent books are "Marley- a Dog like no other", "Stink", "Love that Dog, poems","Holes","Titanic" and "Captain Underpants". Reagan came home yesterday with the funniest book "Chickens May Not Cross The Road and Other Crazy (But True) Laws". As we read, we just couldn't stop laughing. So here are some of our favorite crazy but true laws:
.)Elephants may walk on main street only if they are on a leash, San Francisco, CA. (after living there this does not surprise me)
.)It is against the law to lick a toad in CA.(Some are poisonous and people were getting druglike high)
.)No one may take a lion to a movie theater, Baltimore Maryland(I have to say this seems a little discriminative to lions)
.)Monkeys shall not ride on buses, San Antonio, TX (This is why I have not taken the kids):)
.)It is forbidden to Fish for Whales,Oklahoma State Law (What? Not a coastal state.)
.)Cats may not chase dogs up telephone poles, International Falls, Minnesota (think about that one!)
.)A pickle is not to be sold unless it bounces, Connecticut State Law(I want to see how they test this one in the grocery stores)
.)No dog can appear in public without its master on a leash, Belvedere, CA. I love the language!
.)Riding an ugly horse is illegal in Wilbur Washington (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or maybe not)
.)If two trains meet each other on the same track, they must both stop and wait until the other one has passed. Texas(HUH?)
After reading the ones that apply to our great state of Texas, I can honestly say I am a little worried about my childrens education!:)
