Blake's Turning 12!!

Wow, it's hard to believe but my baby is turning 12 today. I think I have done him an injustice though since I have been saying he was 12 for the last 2 months. So when he woke up today and I asked him how did it feel to be "12" he just looked at me, smiled and said "really no different than yesterday, actually doesn't this mean I'm 13?". Funny guy! He asked me to stop calling him "Blakie", like he does every year.I have a feeling I will be still calling him Blakie when he's 55. He said it makes him feel like a baby. He's not such a baby any more. The way he looks at life and the conversations we have together are truly awesome. He has a very old soul so I really enjoy his perception on God/life things. In fact, last week when I was taking him to violin practice and I was going over all the things he had to do that day (i.e. homework, reading project, boyscouts, and violin practice) he said the greatest thing. He calmly said "you know mom, I have a lot to do today don't I? I think God's testing me to see how I handle the pressure because he wants to prepare me for something up ahead." How insightful!! He went on to to say that God's tests are definitely tougher than school tests because you usually get the material and the test all at the same time and sometimes you don't know whether you pass until years later. It's funny how much we can learn from our kids! I am so proud of him and the young man he is becoming. I'm still going to call him Blakie though!!
